Forest City (IA) – Rural Development Partners (RDP) was honored to provide a matching funds grant with NMTC partner Delco Trailers for the enhancement of workforce development initiatives in Lamar County, Texas. The $180,000 grant was given through RDP’s Community Investment Program, designed to promote workforce development that helps low-income residents receive the training they need to obtain a quality job, while building a pipeline of qualified workers for local industry.
“The collaboration between all parties involved in setting up the new incentive program in Lamar County was quite impressive. We are extremely excited to help bridge the gap for workforce training in the region; the incentive plan will also go a long way in retaining local talent for area businesses.” – Dan Helgeson, CEO of Rural Development Partners
Welding/Agriculture Mechanics Programs
Grant funding will be used to accommodate start-up costs and incentives associated with Welding/Agriculture Mechanics programs in Lamar County (TX). Training facilities will have the opportunity to participate in this competitive incentive plan, open to any Lamar County Welding/Agriculture Mechanics Program. Funding will be used to update and equip training sites for industry certifications, provide funding for a multi-year grant program, reward training sites with a high success rate of workforce placement, provide workers with initial training and start-up cost employment in welding/manufacturing, and provide approved businesses with a pipeline of workers incentivized to hire-on and remain employed.
“Paris ISD has been fortunate to have received this grant which will assist in ensuring that our facilities have the necessary items such as materials, consumables, and equipment for our welding program. We are thankful to all of the sponsors and businesses who have provided support to make this possible,” stated Paris ISD CTE Director Kelly Stapleton. “Through this grant, we will be able to better prepare our students for future employment. In addition to that, there have been incentives put in place for both the student and the training facility to receive outcome bonus incentives for each student/employee longevity.”
